Some of My Influences

Good day everyone. Today I thought I'd share my main fashion influences to you. They are Amy Lee from Evanescence, Demi Lovato, the newly added Selena Gomez, and Miuccia Prada (Miu Miu).

Amy Lee-THE Queen of Rock

Amy Lee, ah, where to begin. First of all, her music and voice is incredible. Just amazing. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qni7YEhcnyo) Next, is her fashion sense. Ever since she was a kid growing up in Little Rock, Arkansas she loved to dress in eccentric outfits with victorian influences and basically old world flair.
This outfit is just great. I am a HUGE fan of her ruffled skirts (Reverie will definitely have those...) I love the corset top and how it is continued onto her arms with the straps. She looks gorgeous in this picture. Her makeup is amazing. I love the detail on the front of her corset, you know? It would be just so plain if not for that great detailing, the same goes for the buckles on the straps. Instead of being just strips of leather the designer gave it a harder look with the metal. The whole color scheme is just perfect for her skin tone; the warm reds make her fair skin appear much warmer than any other color. So, this picture is one of my faves.

I'm not going to get too into this picture but this dress is amazing, along with her makeup look. This is a bad quality upload so you can't see it, but the skirt was actually made in two layers. There is a solid black under layer of some sort of silky material. Then there is a red top layer of a heavy mesh material. It has holes big enough that you can actually see the black underneath...I apologize for the quality of this...I love the bodice area of this dress. Coming up from the skirt you have a strip of plaid fabric to make a creative transition from red to black easier. It wouldn't have been nearly as attractive if the designer had just gone red to black. It would be way too stark. And I think the top black piece is just self explanitory. I love it.

Demi Lovato-The Ever Changing

Haha some may be sitting there wondering why I call Demi Lovato 'ever changing', and the answer is that during her blazing one year career, she made 3 complete style changes. These being rocker to hispanic to glamor and hispanic. When I say hispanic, I mean mexican inspired pieces. I will show you some of my faves from each change.

Rocker
Once again, I apologize for the bad quality of this image. Okay, I just love her hair like this. It perfectly compliments her face shape and is a good color for her skin tone. I love the color that her vest is; it is an unexpected pop for the outfit (For future reference I believe that every good outfit needs a pop. I have found that outfits that don't come off as booring). Gloves. Man. I love those gloves (I wonder if Reverie will have those??? Honestly I don't know...I haven't brought it up with Amy).

Hispanic
Okay, sadly I would have to say this was a fashion fail for her. This was taken right when her red carpet looks suddenly took a bad turn. What is this? A disaster, that's what. The only reason I put this picture on is its hard to find a good picture from this phase. A good place to look is her Don't Forget music video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HulFsv72h3Y). Yaa, she looks gorgeous but this is just not the best look for her. I think the ultimate fail in this dress is the cups with the random black wings above them. Don't they have FAIL written all over them?! I thought so too...Don't Forget, Demi! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmjO1p9Oxrk&feature=related (Watch in HQ).

Glamor and hispanic

Okay, The one on the left is an outtake from her cd booklet, the center one is from her cd booklet and the last is an outtake from Popstar magazine. Love the black pink and silver look on her. It looks very professional and fits her well. Notice that amazing bow on the back of the dress and how musch that pink pops. Check out the shoes too. Love. Yes, in the center pic that is an amazing sparkly jacket. Love the cuffs and pocket details. They calm down the jacket's wild personality and make it actually wearable. Check out the necklace too. Safety pins. That is so great. I have to say that the last picture is very nice. She looks great, she's lost some weight. I love the interesting color of the shirt, very unexpected. I love that necklace. It is very unusual and unique. Check out the zipper on the shirt. Great touch. I think one of the only bads about this outfit is her earrings and the silver straps on the shirt. Gosh, anything but purple or silver would have worked. I think with the purple earrings they were attempting a pop, but failed.

The First Introductions

Hello fellow bloggers or random visitors, either or both are welcome. I thought for a first post some introductions were necessary. My name is Rachel S and I am a 14 year old girl from Wisconsin. I love high fashion and all things musical. I am a Demi Lovato addict, and an Evanescence historian. The 80's are dead and there are only a few things I will allow back: converse, leg warmers, and skinny jeans (not sure if that was 80's but all my mom talks about is her high school attire of leg warmers and skinny jeans...so maybe). And that is pretty much all you need to know about me. Now, on to the good stuff.

Reverie: Concocted after reading our friendship horoscope, Reverie is our future fashion line (the horoscope said we encourage each other to dream big and also to make it big...). Our influences are mainly Miu Miu and anything that Amy Lee from Evanescence wears. We would love to bring Victorian back to the main fashion scene and for our shows we want to use real women. Not those clothes hangers people call models. Haha. Its the truth though. No one wants to see some emaciated image obsessed skeleton modeling your clothes, and if you do, I think you need to leave. Go on, leave right now. I dare you. Go to some other fashion site and look at your precious half starved look. Still here? ok. moving on.

Fashion icon of the week: Selena Gomez

I bought her new cd, Kiss & Tell just two days ago and let me tell you, I am impressed. First of all, she is not the BEST singer, but daang those songs are catchy. Second, the songs are poorly written and shallow, but daang they're catchy. The highlight of the cd: the inside booklet. Buy it just to get the booklet. Her looks are sooo PERFECT! The cover for her single Falling Down was featured inside.

First of all, she looks amazing. Either natural or good photoshopping, I don't care. Good job! Love this dress. I don't have a picture of the front but it is great in its simplicity. Because it is simple, it allows her to add some crazier accessories like the wild legging print-I am a fan. What is that? I love those pink socks with it too, adds a nice transition to those amazing boots. I want. They are the perfect height for this outfit, not like flats, yet not completely vertical either. This is one of my favorite looks from the booklet.

Okay, this isn't the actual picture from the booklet, its an outtake. I just wanted to show the look of this shot. I love the feel of it, kind of dreamy, it appears almost misty where she is. I love her makeup. The slight gloss on her lips is nice and its refreshing to see her without that heavy black eyeliner perpetually around her eyes. Now, this dress-I must say-is a grandma dress. The picture in the booklet shows the full front and wow. I am impressed. I swear she is the only one who could wear this dress. If anyone else were to try I'm sure they'd come off as a little girl trying on grandma's wedding dress. Haha. I love that little pink ribbon in her hair. It completely compliments her short, adorable 'do. Hey, and does anyone else who owns the cd notice her magical length changing hair? Haha. Something to look for if you get it.

So basically that's it. Congradulations Selena Gomez for making a great cd, and feel free to leave a comment or feel free to contact me at the email that I will be posting in my about me section!
